1st Years are Runners-up in
Leinster Junior Debating

Two of our 1st year students, Paul O'Dwyer and Conan
Quinn, have been named as runners-up in the AIB Leinster Junior
Schools Debating competition. As the only 1st years to make it
to the finals
they
faced tough opposition from 2nd and 3rd year students from schools
such as Belvedere, Blackrock and St. Peter's. The finals were
held in UCD on April
18th.
3rd Year Students win a trip
to the Arctic Circle

Some of our 3rd Year students have won a short-film-making
competition. The theme of the film is protecting the earth from
the effects of global warming.
The students designed their props and directed and starred in
their own piece of film.
The prize is a trip to the Arctic Circle to observe the effects
of Global Warming at first hand.
Basketball Champions Again!!
March 2008
Following their recent success in the U-16 Cup Final,
pundits expected a Bray backlash and though they battled us all
the way, there was never a doubt that Herron, Purcell et al would
emerge triumphant again. Final score 44-41.

Our Under-16s have just won the National Group B
basketball Cup Final, defeating Presentation College, Bray 45-35
at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght. Well done to Peter
Herron
(captain) and the rest of the basketball team!
Annual History Quiz

St. Conleths hosted the annual History Teachers'
Association Table Quiz for senior cylce students. Twenty-five schools
took part on the night. Congratulations to the winning team from
St. Benildus. St. Conleth's team was placed fourth.

Congratulations to Geoffrey Crozier-Shaw who was
awarded an entrance scholarship to UCD on his 2007 Leaving Certificate
results. Congratulations also to Nadine Feaheny and Oisín Tracey
who this year were awarded exhibitions to UCD.

Transition Year Go To Strasbourg

Our Transition Year students have just returned from
their successful trip to Strasbourg. They visited the European Parliament
and took part in the Euroscola
Programme along with students and teachers from other EU countries.
Two Students Qualify for International
Debating Competition

John Prasifka and Daniel Craven (3rd Year) have
qualified for the finals of the International Young Debaters Competition.
The final will take place in Oxford in a few months time.
Two Awards for St. Conleth's
at the BT Young Scientist competition

Sean Totterdell (2nd Year) won an award for the
excellent display of his project (Volcanoes - how unpredictable
are they really?). Fintan Moloney (1st Year) won a Highly Commended
award for his project (The soporific effects of various herbal
infusions).
St. Conleth's Basketballers reach
National Finals

Our under 16s basketball team have won their semi-final
against Colaiste an Spirid Naoimh 49-42. Well done to all concerned!
The
national final will be played at the
end of
January.
St Conleth's Student wins EU
Photography Competition

P.J. Moloney, one of our transition year students
has won a photography competition organised by the European Parliament.
The prize is an all expenses paid trip to Strasbourg for 30 TY students.
A man riding a bike on Morehampton Road (Dublin). The solution for
saving our planet from global warming rests with us. The simple things
like riding a bike (which is just as good as a car for transportation)
all help make a better world.
