BASKETBALL at St. Conleth's

Basketball has a recent pedigree at St. Conleth's, but is quickly becoming a proud one. In only our second year participating in Basketball Ireland official leagues and cups, we now field 5 teams involving over 80 student athletes, including a girls' team!

St. Conleths successful 2007 U-16's basketball team
  • 1st years and U-16s practice on Mondays after school.
  • 2nd years and U-19s practice on Fridays.
  • Under 19s girls practice on Tuesdays or Thursdays (with 100% participation amongst the 5th year girls).

Under 19 boys made it to the quarter finals of the All Ireland Cup having notched notable wins en route including a memorable road-victory in Roscarberry in Co. Cork, where they overcame a 17-point half-time deficit and stormed to a 15 point victory. More recently, they trounced St. Michael's in their last league game to finish 4-2 and earn a spot in the East semi-finals. Under 16 boys chose Shannon as their staging post for their All-Ireland Cup assault, where they edged out the hospitable home team. They are looking to a semi-final cup match in the NBA after Christmas. They also finished 2nd in their group, going 4-1 and are playing the much fancied St. Aidan's in the East semi-final. First and second years are looking forward to the start of their official campaign in the new year. The girls finished 4-1 in their league; a great start to a new St. Conleth's tradition!
